Food Recall: Eden Organic Apple Juice

Canada/Ottawa: Eden Foods, a Clinton, Michigan establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Eden branded Organic Apple Juice from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Mycotoxin – Patulin contamination and consequential risks of genotoxicity, systemic toxicity, immunotoxicity, embryotoxicity and teratogenicity, organ damage and death, all serious health hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Apple Juice products are subject to this recall:

  • Eden branded Organic Apple Juice, sold in 946 milliliter (~32 ounce) bottles with a batch/lot code of BBMA 2024FE26 1057 and a UPC of 0 24182 00607 2
  • Eden branded Organic Apple Juice, sold in 1.82 liter (~64 ounce) bottles with a batch/lot code of BBMA 2024FE26 1057 and a UPC of 0 24182 00364 2

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Apple Juice products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these beverage products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Apple Juice identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Eden branded Organic Apple Juice, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Patulin contamination.
