US FlagUS/Bethesda: Cyme-Tech, a Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec establishment, recalls an estimated 10,611 Low Profile Murphy Beds from the American marketplace due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of tip-over, falls, laceration, concussion, crush, bone fractures, Traumatic Brain Injury (“TBI”) hazard and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain full-sized and queen-sized Murphy beds sold online under the brand names, “Ivy Bronx”, “Orren Ellis”, “Stellar Home Furniture” and “Wade Logan” marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • These Wall Beds are installed vertically and are sold in five colors: White, Rustic Gray, Espresso, Cinnamon and Tuxedo. The models included in the recall are Low Profile Murphy wall bed part numbers S214 (Double Bed, Doors Installed Vertically), S215 (Queen Bed, Doors Installed Vertically), S234 (Double Bed, Doors Installed Horizontally), S235 (Queen Bed, Doors Installed Horizontally).

You can identify whether your Murphy style Bed is included in this recall by checking your original online receipt of purchase for the brand name and part number or by contacting the firm.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Wall Beds can detach from the wall and fall onto those nearby, posing serious impact and crush hazards with consequential risks of laceration, concussion, bone fractures, Traumatic Brain Injury (“TBI”), crush and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

The company has received received 146 reports of the Beds falling or breaking including 62 injuries involving broken bones, bruising, lacerations, concussions and other injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cyme-Tech Wall Beds, please do not use it. Instead, kindly Cyme Tech to schedule a free inspection and repair of the bed. Cyme Tech is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, concussion, crush, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
