Among the sixty-three (63) recalls the NHTSA announced this September comes news of the following:

Logo - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (“Volkswagen”), a Herndon, Virginia establishment and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group of Wolfsburg, Germany, has recalled an estimated 3,184 model year 2022 Volkswagen Atlas and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport SUVs marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Trailer Hitches – Loose Hitch Bolts may allow Trailer to separate

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V657000 reports the Trailer Hitch Bolts may have been insufficiently tightened.

According to the NHTSA, loose Bolts may fall out, causing the remaining Bolts to break, which could lead to separation of the Trailer Hitch and Trailer, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results..

Proposed Remedy:
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Owners of the recalled vehicles may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety (“NHTSA”) Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit the NHTSA’s Web site at http://www.nhtsa.gov.

Authorized Volkswagen Dealers will tighten the Trailer Hitch bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 28, 2022. Owners may contact Volkswagen’s Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-893-5298 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Volkswagen’s designation for this recall is 66N8.
