Product Recall: Rexall Water Filled Baby Teethers

Canada/Ottawa: Rexall, a Mississauga, Ontario establishment, recalls an estimated 14,453 Rexall branded Water Filled Teethers from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Robertmurraya sp. bacterial contamination with consequential risks of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Rexall branded Water Filled Teething Toys, sold in two-teether packages in a variety of colours including blue, green, orange, and pink with a UPC of 771058114956

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Children’s Toys can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Rexall branded Water-Filled Teethers may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these Toy products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, Rexall has recalled an estimated 14,453 Rexall branded Water Filled Teethers from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Robertmurraya sp. bacterial contamination. You should not let your child play with or near the recalled items.

Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, Teether fillings must not contain any living micro-organisms. Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the liquid filling in the recalled Toys may be contaminated with Robertmurraya bacteria.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Rexall Baby Water-Filled Teethers, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
