Among the eighty-five (85) recalls the NHTSA announced in July came news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 8,530 model year 2022 AMG EQS53, EQS580, EQS450, 2021 S500, S580 and Maybach S580 vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Inoperative Rearview Camera Display in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V493000 reports the Rearview Camera may not display the Rearview image due to a Software error in the MBUX Multimedia System. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

Logo - AMGAccording to the NHTSA, an inoperative Rearview Camera Display reduces the driver’s Rear View, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealers will update the MBUX Multimedia System Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 9, 2022. Owners may contact Mercedes Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
