US FlagUS/Silver Spring: BrandStorm Inc., a Los Angeles, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Natierra Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries from the American marketplace due to suspected Lead chemical contamination and consequential risks to children of damage to the brain and nervous system, slowed growth and development, learning and behavior problems, hearing and speech problems, lower IQ, decreased ability to pay attention and underperformance in school. In adults, Lead poisoning can cause high blood pressure, joint and muscle pain, difficulties with memory or concentration, headache, abdominal pain, mood disorders, reduced sperm count and abnormal sperm, miscarriage, stillbirth and/or premature birth in pregnant women, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries are subject to this recall:

  • Natierra branded Freeze-Dried Blueberries, sold in 1.2-ounce (34 gram) pouches with a batch/lot designation of 2021363-1, a best-by date of 12/2024 and a UPC 812907011160
  • Natierra branded Freeze-Dried Blueberries, sold in 1.2-ounce (34 gram) pouches with a batch/lot designation of 2022026-1, a best-by date of 01/2025 and a UPC 812907011160

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, BrandStorm Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Natierra Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries from the American marketplace due to suspected Lead chemical contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Freeze-Dried Blueberries identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fruit to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Lead poisoning.
