Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Kam Ding Investment Ltd., a Coquitlam, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of TWA Fungi branded Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Fresh Oyster Mushrooms are subject to this recall:

  • TWA Fungi branded Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms, packaged in 200 gram clear plastic vacuum bags with green trim; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including July 01, 2022 with a UPC of 6 957937 480051

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These TWA Fungi branded Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Kam Ding has recalled certain batch/lots of TWA Fungi branded Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fresh Oyster Mushrooms identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled TWA Fungi branded Fresh King Oyster Mushrooms, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
