Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Rio branded Swinging Hammock Chairs marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • This recall involves Rio branded Swinging Hammock Chairs, with each Chair consisting of a black or gray metal frame, a fabric seat and a backrest with a pillow. Some of the recalled Chairs have a drink holder and were sold in gray, navy, blue, red and camouflage color/styles. The brand, “Rio” can be found printed below the pillow. Only Chairs with warning tags on the back of the Chair’s backrest or armrest are included in this recall at this time.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled products can be found on the Web site listed above.

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, incorrect assembly may cause structural collapse of these pieces of furniture. Specifically, improper insertion of the Pins provided for the assembly and weight bearing of the Chair can cause the Chair’s legs to collapse. If this defect occurs, it poses risk of falls, laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Rio branded Swinging Hammock Chairs, please do not use them. Instead, kindly use the new, updated instructions and ensure the Pins are fully and properly inserted into the Chair’s Legs as indicated by the instructions. Owners should contact ShelterLogic Group to receive the new instructions that will help verify proper and safe Pin insertion. New instructions can also be found at http://www.Safety.ShelterLogic.com.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
