Among the fifty-seven (57) recalls the NHTSA has announced this June comes news of the following:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC)Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 270,904 model year 2018-2019 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Vehicle rollaway due to ABS malfunction

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V426000 reports a malfunction in the Antilock-Brake System (“ABS”) Module may illuminate the Brake Lights, and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of PARK without the Brake Pedal being applied.

According to the NHTSA, a vehicle that starts and shifts out of PARK without applying the Brake Pedal can result in vehicle rollaway, without prior warning and/or injury to others outside of the vehicle. If this defect occurs, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
The remedy for this defect is under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 29, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-853-1403 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. FCA US’s designation for this recall is Z48.
