US FlagUS/Silver Spring: 888 Food Company, a South El Monte, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Ho King Fish Balls, Ho King Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Loaf, Giai Phat Fried Fish Cakes, Giai Phat Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Shrimp Balls and Giai Phat Cuttle Fish Balls from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following processed Fish Balls and Cakes are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Giai Phat Cuttle Fish Balls, sold in 11 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Featherback Fish Balls, sold in 11 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Fish Balls, sold in 11 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Fried Featherback Fish Balls, sold in 11 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Fried Fish Balls, sold in 10 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Fried Fish Cakes, sold in 12 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Fried Fish Loaf, sold in 10 ounce packages
  • Giai Phat Shrimp Balls, sold in 7 ounce packages
  • Ho King Fish Balls, sold in 11 ounce packages
  • Ho King Fried Fish Balls, sold in 10 ounce packages

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These 888 Food Company Fish Balls and Cakes were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of California, Indiana and Illinois, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, 888 Food Company has recalled certain batch/lots of Ho King Fish Balls, Ho King Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Loaf, Giai Phat Fried Fish Cakes, Giai Phat Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Shrimp Balls and Giai Phat Cuttle Fish Balls from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg.

In this case, the recall was initiated after the company received a consumer complaint of Anaphylaxis. An investigation found that the products’ ingredients were changed to include Eggs without notification.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled processed Fish Balls and Cakes identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Ho King Fish Balls, Ho King Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Loaf, Giai Phat Fried Fish Cakes, Giai Phat Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Fish Balls, Giai Phat Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Fried Featherback Fish Balls, Giai Phat Shrimp Balls and Giai Phat Cuttle Fish Balls and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
