US FlagUS/Washington: Amazon Go branded Super Asian Chicken Salads Public Health Warning [US]The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Heath Warning against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Amazon Go branded Super Asian Chicken Salads containing Jif Peanut Butter from the American marketplace and sold at Amazon Go stores due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Asian Chicken Salads are subject to this recall:

  • Amazon Go branded Super Asian Chicken Salads, sold in clear plastic clamshell containers that includes numerous items along with a single 0.75-ounce foodservice size JIF Peanut Butter and a best-by date code of 05/28/22

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Salads can be found on the Web site above.

These Asian Chicken Salads were known to be marketed, distributed and sold from one Amazon Go retail location in Washington state, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, its Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) has issued a Public Heath Warning against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Amazon Go branded Super Asian Chicken Salads containing Jif Peanut Butter from the American marketplace and sold at Amazon Go stores due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken Salads identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

This product, and others like it, contain a foodstuff that has been recalled by its manufacturer, The J. M. Smucker Co., as part of its North American recall involving various types, varieties and serving sizes of Jif branded Peanut Butter. Please note: the foodservice portion of the Peanut Butter is much smaller than its retail equivalent but shares similar branding and trade dress.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Super Asian Chicken Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
