US FlagCanada FlagUS/Bethesda & Canada/Ottawa: Hisense USA, a Suwanee, Georgia establishment recalls an estimated total 55,278 Hisense USA branded Bottom Freezer/French Door Refrigerators (approximately 55,200 in the US and approximately 78 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Hisense USA’s Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerators, as follows:

  • Hisense USA’s 26.6 cubic foot capacity Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerators that measure approximately 36 inches wide by 74 inches high and come with an integrated Ice Maker, a model number of HRF266N6CSE and serial numbers ranging from C2020050100001 through C2020123109000. The brand name, model and serial number for each unit are printed on a label located on the left side of the interior of the Refrigerator, above the Water Dispenser. Using the serial number, you can check to determine whether your Refrigerator is included in this recall by clicking http://hisenseservice.com/recall.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, Hisense USA has recalled an estimated total 55,278 Hisense branded Bottom Freezer/French Door Refrigerators (approximately 55,200 in the US and approximately 78 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

In this case, the Door Hinges on the recalled Refrigerators can break causing a Door to detach when anyone tries to open the French Doors. If this defect occurs, it poses impact injury hazards to the user and to those nearby. Hisense USA has received 139 reports of the Refrigerator Doors loosening or detaching and five (5) reports of injuries, including foot bruises and lacerations. No bone fractures or CNS injuries have been reported by press time.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Hisense USA branded Bottom Freezer/French Door Refrigerators, please exercise caution when using the door and do not use any of the Doors if they fail to open and/or close properly. Owners should contact Hisense USA to determine if your specific Refrigerator is part of this recall and to schedule a free, in-home service appointment to have the Refrigerator Door Hinges replaced.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
