Canada Flag Canada/Ottawa: TJX Canada, a Mississauga, Ontario establishment, recalls an estimated 282 Lam Hiep Hanging Egg Chairs from the Canadian marketplace and sold at HomeSense, Marshalls and Winners stores due to suspected structural failure and consequential risks of falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Hanging Egg Chairs are subject to this recall:

  • Lam Hiep Hanging Egg Chairs – Grey Rope Hanging Chair Style, sold with a style number of 139690 and a model number of LHH2501
  • Lam Hiep Hanging Egg Chairs – Grey Wicker Hanging Chair Style, sold with a style number of 139697 and a model number of LHH2502

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Hanging Egg Chairs may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, TJX Canada has recalled an estimated 282 Lam Hiep Hanging Egg Chairs from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected structural failure. Due to this defect, the Chairs may pose risks to the safety of people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, the Stands that support the Hanging Egg Chairs are reportedly improperly designed and may snap when someone sits in them, posing a fall hazard.

As of May 25, 2022, the company has received six (6) reports of the chair stands breaking in Canada, with no reports of injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Lam Hiep Hanging Egg Chairs, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
