European Union Recalls 35 Products, Toys & Vehicles

Among the thirty-five (35) recalls the European Union announced in its second report of May 2022, the following recall notification was made:

Pangu Fireworks branded Scream Fireworks

Pangu Fireworks branded Scream Fireworks sold with an EU Article designation of Art 3670, an item number of 3670/2020/1 and a batch/lot code of 49F225/120/20. This recall alert was submitted by The Netherlands to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A12/00711/22.

These Pangu Fireworks branded Scream Fireworks were marketed, sold and delivered as consumer grade Fireworks, capable of being used by untrained personnel. The product is sold in brown cardboard boxes with black and red accent colors with white lettering. Please see the photograph at the left for product packaging details.

The Pangu Fireworks branded Scream Fireworks were reportedly rated by the company as “Category z2 Consumer Fireworks” with 100 rockets or “shots” per case.

No EANs/barcodes, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The hazards reported in the recalled Pangu Fireworks Scream Fireworks are two-fold:

First, the fireworks are too powerful for use by untrained personnel but rather, should only be used by professional pyrotechnicians. The use of the recalled Fireworks by untrained people could lead to burns, hearing damage, eye damage and/or hand/finger injury.

Second, the recalled Fireworks are unstable in that they can shoot out in unintended directions, endangering the health and safety of the operator as well as those nearby. The products also represent risks of fire, explosion and/or property damage to structures or vehicles nearby if hit by errant Fireworks.

As a consequence, utilizing these products in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use, a user of these recalled Pangu Fireworks branded Scream Fireworks can suffer serious injury and/or life-changing health consequences.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Pangu Fireworks Scream Fireworks reportedly do not comply with the health and safety requirements of Europe’s Pyrotechnics Directive nor with the European standard EN 16263.

Consequently, an importation ban of the Pangu Fireworks Scream Fireworks from the European marketplace has been ordered. You should not market, sell or use these recalled protective protective mask products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pangu Fireworks Scream Fireworks, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased them for a refund.

If you have a medical emergency, please contact 1-1-2, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat respiratory disease and mitigate risks of respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

Please note: 1-1-2 (also written as “112”) is the universal European emergency number you can dial free of charge from fixed and mobile phones anywhere in the EU. It will connect you to the local emergency services including police, ambulance, fire brigade. National emergency numbers are still in use too, alongside 1-1-2. but 1-1-2 is the only number you can use to access the emergency services in all EU countries.
