US FlagUS/Washington: Safeway Fresh Food, LLC, a Vineland, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 717 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Dole Fresh Takes Classic Chicken Caesar Salad products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Anchovy Fish, Egg and Wheat, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Salad products are subject to this recall:

  • Dole Fresh Takes Classic Chicken Caesar Salads, packaged in 13.6-ounce plastic bowls with a use-by date of 05/05/2022 and batch/lot code of S109000 1

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Salads can be found on the Web site above.

These Salad products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold to distributors in the US states of Maryland and Virginia and then further distributed to retailers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Safeway Fresh Food has recalled an estimated 717 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Dole Fresh Takes Classic Chicken Caesar Salad products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Anchovy Fish, Egg and Wheat. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Salads identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products within during the time period ranging from April 1, 2022 to May 10, 2022, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Dole Fresh Takes Classic Chicken Caesar Salad products and could be allergic to their Anchovy Fish, Egg and/or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
