European Union Recalls 55 Products, Toys & Vehicles

Among the fifty-five (55) recalls the European Union announced in its second report of April 2022, the following recall notification was made:

Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding “Pöytäjyrsin” Machines were sold with a model number of TFM610V. This recall alert was submitted by Finland to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A12/00550/22.

These Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding Machines are marketed, sold and delivered as motorized woodworking equipment for small-scale fabricators. Specifically, the recalled products are table routers designed for small to medium routing and milling applications and produce wooden spindles for tables, banisters and other applications. These woodworking machines can generate speeds ranging from 11500 to 24000 rpm and are adjustable from 0 to 40 mm in cut depth. These Single Spindle Vertical Molders were known to have been sold online but other sales channels may have been used.

The Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molders are packaged in red/white cardboard boxes with a full-color picture of the woodworking equipment, its brand name, its product type and basic product features printed along all sides of the box.

No EANs/barcodes, manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazard reported in the recalled Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding Machines is that the Inductor inside the device’s Electrical Connection Box is reportedly in contact with the metal frame of the product. This means there is no clearance/creepage distance between live electrical parts on the inside of the device and the outside metal casing where operators can rest their hands and/or guide the machine’s usage.

• As a consequence, utilizing this product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use, accessible parts can become electrically live and an operator could receive an electric shock, burns and/or other injuries from them.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, these recalled Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding Machines reportedly do not comply with the health and safety requirements of Europe’s Machinery Directive. As well, the industrial Molding Machines reportedly fail to comply with the European standard EN 61029-2-8.

Consequently, a withdrawal of the Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding Machines from customers in Europe has been ordered. You should not market, sell or use these recalled protective woodworking products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Holzmann branded Single Spindle Vertical Molding Machines, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased it for a refund.
