Additional information:
Among the eighty-nine (89) recalls the European Union announced in its first report of April 2022, the following recall notification was made:
Rimeck branded HV Bright Kids 9V4 Reflective Children’s Vests sold with EAN/barcode number of 0781219022846. This recall alert was submitted by Lithuania to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A12/00521/22.
These Rimeck branded HV Bright Kids 9V4 Reflective Children’s Vests are marketed, sold and delivered as reflective vests to improve visibility of small children, especially in near-darkness such as nighttime, dusk or dawn while crossing roads, in fields or other situations where high visibility is desired.
Each vest is made of fluorescent orange material with two (2) strips of reflective material sewn horizontally and vertically as illustrated in the adjacent photograph. Each Reflective Vest comes folded and sealed in a clear plastic bag. Only the Rimeck Reflective Children’s Vests that are available in size – 32 (i.e., for children) are currently included in this recall.
No model numbers, manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
The type of hazards reported in the recalled Rimeck branded HV Bright Kids 9V4 Reflective Children’s Vests is that they reportedly lack sufficient retroreflective surface. As a result, the child wearing this vest is not sufficiently visible in situations where high visibility is essential.
- As a consequence, utilizing this product in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use, a person could suffer serious health and/or safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury. Specifically, a child wearing this vest could suffer serious, life-changing injuries or even death if a motorist fails to see him or her in time to prevent an impact event or other MVC.

It will connect you to the local emergency services including police, ambulance, fire brigade. National emergency numbers are still in use too, alongside 1-1-2. but 1-1-2 is the only number you can use to access the emergency services in all EU countries.
