Among the thirty-four (34) recalls the European Union announced in its fourth (and final) report of March 2022, the following recall notification was made:

New Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion

New Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products sold with an EAN/barcode of 8029550000126. This recall alert was submitted by Sweden to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A12/00475/22.

These New Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products are marketed, sold and delivered as anti hair loss products designed to decrease existing patterns of hair loss in adults and are packaged in cardboard boxes, each with twelve (12) ampoules of 10 ml individual doses.

No DINs, best-before date codes, model numbers, manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards found in the recalled New Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products is that they reported;y contain the chemicals, Methylchloroisothiazolinone (“MCI”) and Methylisothiazolinone (“MI”), both substances forbidden under EU regulation for leave-on cosmetics. Dermal (i.e., skin) contact with products that contain Methylchloroisothiazolinone and/or Methylisothiazolinone can cause allergic Contact Dermatitis in sensitive persons

  • As a consequence, utilizing this product in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use, a person could suffer serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products do not comply with the health and safety requirements of Europe’s Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Consequently, a ban on the marketing and sale of the recalled Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products within the European marketplace has been ordered. You should not market, sell or consume these recalled cosmetic products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Placentyne branded Anti Hair Loss Lotion products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased it for a refund.

If you have a medical emergency, please contact 1-1-2, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat skin damage and mitigate risks of Anaphylaxis.

Please note: 1-1-2 (also written as “112”) is the universal European emergency number you can dial free of charge from fixed and mobile phones anywhere in the EU. It will connect you to the local emergency services including police, ambulance, fire brigade.
