Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Jimel’s Bakery and Food Products, a Winnipeg, Manitoba establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Jimel’s Bakery branded Baked Goods from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination caused by reported rodent infestation and consequential Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Jimel’s Bakery branded Chicken Asado Siopaos (Chicken Steamed Buns), sold in 810 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to March 22, 2022 with a UPC of 0 97415 00002 2
  • Jimel’s Bakery branded Chicken Empanadas, sold in one (1) count packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to March 22, 2022 with a UPC of 0 97415 00017 6

  • Additional Jimel’s Bakery branded Baked Goods purchased at Jimel’s Bakery, 471 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB sold in various weight packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to March 22, 2022 with various UPCs

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Jimel’s Bakery brand Baked Goods were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Manitoba, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Jimel’s Bakery has recalled certain batch/lots of Jimel’s Bakery brand Baked Goods from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled food products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Jimel’s Bakery brand Baked Goods, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
