Among the twenty-nine (29) recalls the European Union announced in its second report of March 2022, the following recall notification was made:

Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints

Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints sold with an EAN/barcode number of 5713799143500. This recall alert was submitted by France to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A11/00043/22.

These Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints are marketed, sold and delivered as model toy paints, packaged in 18 ml plastic bottles. Specifically, this recall involves Warhammer Model Toy Warpaints presented in a pale green color, called “Kraken” by the company.

No item numbers, best-before date codes, model numbers, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in the recalled Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints is that these paints contain Benzisothiazolinone (measured value 0.032% by weight). Benzisothiazolinone is a skin sensitiser and can trigger allergic reactions or Contact Dermatitis. The product lacks the legally required labeling specifying information about its safe and correct use.

  • As a consequence, utilizing the product in a reasonable manner expected with their intended design and anticipated use a person could suffer serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Regulation on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures (“CLP”).

Consequently, a withdrawal of the these Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints from the European marketplace has been ordered. A recall of the product from end users has also been  ordered.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Army Painter branded Model Toy Warpaints, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or online outlet where you purchased it for a refund.
