US/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, has issued a formal Public Health Alert against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Simply Fresh Market Chicken Salad – Apples & Walnuts variety from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.
An official Recall was not requested because the known affected product is no longer available in commerce for consumers to purchase.
