Among the forty-eight (48) recalls the NHTSA has announced in January comes news of the following:

Logo - Nissan North America, Inc.Nissan North America, Inc. (“Nissan”), a Franklin, Tennessee establishment and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Yokohama, Japan has recalled an estimated 688,946 model year 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System – Electrical Connector under Dash may corrode

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V024000 reports the Electrical Connector for the under Dash Harness may corrode due to water and salt intrusion from the Driver’s Side Foot Well.

According to the NHTSA, corrosion in the Electrical Connector can result in Power Window/Seat failure, All-Wheel-Drive Warning Light Illumination, Battery Drainage, and Electrical Connector damage that increases the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Proposed Remedy:
The remedy is currently under development by Nissan. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed March 2, 2022. A second notice will be mailed once the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Nissan’s designation for this recall is R21B9.
