US FlagUS/Washington: EGL Motor Inc., an El Monte, California establishment, recalls an estimated 2,900 EGL and ACE branded Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (“ATVs”) from the American marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the requirements of the US Federal Mandatory ATV safety standards and consequential risks of loss of vehicle control, crash, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury and death

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain EGL and ACE branded Youth All-Terrain Vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • The recall involves certain EGL and ACE branded Youth ATVs, models MADIX 125 and D110. The name of the vehicle is printed on a label located on both sides of the vehicle. The model number is stamped into the metal plate located on the left side, under the rear body. The ATVs were sold as either Age 12+ or Age 16+. The ATVs have a label under the model number, stating: “This ATV is subject to EGL MOTOR INC’s action plan approved by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.”

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled ATV products can be found on the Web site listed above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, these Youth ATVs fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Mandatory ATV Safety Standard, including maximum speed limitations and other mandatory safety requirements.

Specifically, children can operate these ATVs above the maximum allowed speed, increasing the risk of a crash that can cause serious injuries. The Handlebars pose a laceration hazard should the child rider’s body or head impact the Handlebars at a high rate of speed such as in a crash. In addition, the parking brake does not prevent the movement of the vehicle at the minimum required steepness. ATVs that fail to meet the mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury or death to children.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled EGL and ACE branded Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (“ATVs”), please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact EGL Motor to make an appointment for a no-cost full repair from an authorized repair shop.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
