Sweets & Beverages Tohato Caramel Corn Recall [Australia]

Australia/Canberra: Sweets and Beverages Australia Pty Ltd., a Melbourne, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Tohato Caramel Corn – Original Flavour from the Australian marketplace due to suspected mispackaging and consequential undeclared Almond Nuts and Peanuts, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Caramel Corn products are subject to this recall:

• Tohato Caramel Corn – Original Flavour, packaged in 80 gram bags with a batch/lot codes of 51JHJE or 11AJJAN, a best-before date code of 22.01.31 or 22.03.29 and an APN/barcode number of 4901940111107

==> No barcodes, APNs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Tohato Caramel Corn products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian states of New South Wales and Victoria, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Sweets and Beverages Australia has recalled certain batch/lots of Tohato Caramel Corn Original Flavour from the Australian marketplace due to suspected mispackaging and consequential undeclared Almond Nuts and Peanuts. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Caramel Corn products identified above. As a result of these reported defects and risks, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Caramel Corn products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Tohato Caramel Corn – Original Flavour and could be allergic to their Peanut and/or Almond ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
