Among the thirty (30) recalls the NHTSA has announced in January comes news of the following:

Logo - Hyundai Motor AmericaHyundai Motor America (“Hyundai”), a Fountain Valley, California establishment and a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 26,413 model year 2020-2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”), 2021 Hyundai Sonata Sedans and Hyundai Elantra Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Visibility – Inadequate Windshield bonding

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V00M000 reports during manufacturing, the Windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash.

According to the NHTSA, a Windshield that detaches from a vehicle during a crash can increase the risk of serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Hyundai Dealers will remove and reinstall the Front Windshield Panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 25, 2022. Owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service toll-free at 1-855-371-9460 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. Hyundai’s designation for this recall is 216.
