US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Poppies International, Inc., a Battleboro, North Carolina establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Delizza Cream Puffs, Delizza Chocolate Enrobed Cream Puffs and Taste of Inspirations Crème Puffs from the American marketplace due to suspected metal fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cream Puff Pastries are subject to this recall:

  • Delizza Choc Enrobed Cream Puff Pastries, sold in 30 count, 400 gram packages with a batch/lot of L1J5021 or L1K5021 and a best-before date of 06/09/2023 and a UPC of 6 76670 00402 2
  • Delizza Cream Puff Pastries, sold in 120 count, 1.5 kilogram packages with a batch/lot of L32E5021 or L32F502 and a best-before date of 06/07/2023 and a UPC of 6 76670 00800 6
  • Delizza Cream Puff Pastries, sold in 30 count, 375 gram packages with a batch/lot of L2N5021 or L2O5021 and a best-before date of 06/10/2023 and a UPC of 6 76670 00107 6
  • Taste of Inspirations Crème Puffs, sold in 30 count, 375 gram packages with a batch/lot of L2I5021and a best-before date of 06/08/2023 and a UPC of 7 25439 99597 9

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Cream Puff Pastries were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states as follows, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

  • Delizza 30-count Chocolate Enrobed Cream Puffs at selected ShopRite and PriceRite locations in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
  • Delizza 30-count Cream Puffs distributed to selected Safeway locations in Northern California
  • Delizza 30-count Chocolate Enrobed Cream Puffs distributed to selected ShopRite and PriceRite locations in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island
  • Delizza 120-count Cream Puffs distributed to selected Costco locations in Northern California as well as Carson City and Sparks, Nevada
  • Taste of Inspirations Crème Puffs 30-count distributed to Hannaford locations in New York

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Poppies International has recalled certain batch/lots of Delizza Cream Puffs, Delizza Chocolate Enrobed Cream Puffs and Taste of Inspirations Crème Puffs from the American marketplace due to suspected metal fragment contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cream Puff Pastries identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cream Puffs, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the baked goods to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and/or bowel obstruction.
