US FlagUS/Washington: Abbyland Foods, Inc., an Abbotsford, Wisconsin establishment, recalls an estimated 14,976 pounds of Iowa Smokehouse branded Original Smoked Beef Sticks from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging with consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Smoked Beef Stick products were produced on dates ranging from November 15, 2021 to November 17, 2021 and subject to this recall:

  • Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked Beef Sticks, packaged to two (2)-pound clear plastic packages with a sell-by dates of 11/15/2022 or 11/17/2022

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

These Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked Beef Sticks may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Abbyland Foods has recalled an estimated 14,976 pounds of Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked Beef Sticks from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Milk. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smoked Beef Sticks identified above.

The products subject to recall bear Establishment number 1633B on the package below the sell by date.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Iowa Smokehouse Original Smoked Beef Sticks products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
