US FlagUS/Washington: Inclinator Company of America Inc., a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania establishment, recalls an estimated 39,300 Inclinator Residential Elevators from the American marketplace due to suspected entrapment hazard with consequential risks of laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Inclinator Residential Elevators marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • Inclinator Residential Elevators, consisting of consumer grade elevators to be used in residential dwellings manufactured from 1979 through 2021. Models include the following:
    • Winding Drum models (450 – 1,000 pound capacity)
    • Hydraulic Drive models
    • Chain Drive models
    • Traction Drive models
    • Overhead Cable Drum models

Serial numbers can be found printed on the Elevator Controllers, stamped on the Rails, or on the outside of the Drum for Winding Drum units.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, young children can become entrapped in the space between the Exterior Landing (i.e., the Hoistway) door and the Interior Elevator Car Door or Gate if there is a hazardous gap, and suffer serious injuries or death when the Elevator is called to another floor when utilizing the Elevator in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Inclinator Residential Elevators, please keep unsupervised young children away from the recalled Elevators and contact the manufacturer for instructions on how to measure for Space Guards to correct any hazardous gaps. Space Guards will be provided free of charge and assistance with Space Guard installation will be provided on request.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat entrapment, amputation, laceration, crush, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
