Chinese Meat & Poultry Health Alert [US]

US/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Health Alert for an undetermined amount of imported Chinese Meat and Poultry products due to reported ineligibility for importation into the United States, and consequential risks of bacterial and/or viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

A formal Recall was not requested at this time because the FSIS has been unable to identify and contact the importers. The total amount of ineligible product is currently undetermined because the USDA’s investigation is ongoing.
