Canada/Ottawa: Logo - Persia Foods Products Inc.Persia Foods Products Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pegah branded Mix Nut Baklava from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Cashew Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Pegah branded Mix Nut Baklava, sold in 450 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all codes where Cashew is not declared on the label with a UPC of 8 77566 98138 4

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Pegah branded Mix Nut Baklava products may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Persia Foods Products has recalled certain batch/lots of Pegah branded Mix Nut Baklava products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Cashew Nuts. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Baked Goods identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pegah Mix Nut Baklava products and could be allergic to their Cashew Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
