Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: The Cottage, a Wetherill Park, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Persian Labneh Soft Cheese from the Australian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk, Sesame and Soy, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Persian Labneh Soft Cheese products are subject to this recall:

  • The Cottage – Persian Labneh Soft Cheese, sold in 300 gram plastic tubs; affected batch/lots: all best-before date codes ranging from and including 25 NOV 2021 and up to and including 28 APR 2022 with an APN/barcode of 9336643000819

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Persian Labneh Soft Cheese products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, The Cottage has recalled certain batch/lots of Persian Labneh from the Australian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk, Sesame and Soy. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Labneh products identified above.

==> For information about Milk Allergy or Lactose Intolerance, Sesame Allergy and/or Soy Allergy, please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Persian Labneh products and could be allergic to their Milk, Sesame and/or Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
