Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifiers sold with a model designation of DAC12-1-WP and a barcode/EAN of 4895155663042. This recall alert was submitted by Hungary to the EU Safety Gateway under alert number A11/00104/21.

These Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifiers are marketed, sold and delivered as personal air-coolers/humidifiers with LED lighting designed to cool and hydrate a small area in a home or office. The product was reportedly sold in a white and grey plastic-covered case with a power supply marked with an item code of ETA-U90EWE.

No manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifiers include the reported finding that the electrical insulation of the device’s power supply is inadequate. In addition, the water tank is not accessible for cleaning and the appliance does not sound a warning to change the water when required.

As a consequence, a person who utilizes any of the recalled Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifiers in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use may experience two (2) hazards:

First, as a result of reportedly inadequate electrical insulation, an operator could receive an electric shock from accessible live parts.

Second, because the product’s water tank is reportedly not accessible for cleaning and the appliance does not sound a warning to change the water when required, it could lead to the development of molds that can cause allergic reactions, lung infections and serious and/or live-changing consequences in people with decreased immunity due to Cancer, HIV/AIDS or other co-morbidities.

Due to these defects, these Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifiers do not reportedly comply with Europe’s Low Voltage Directive and the European standards EN 60335 and EN 62368.

As a result of these reported defects, a withdrawal of the Daewoo branded Mini Air Cooler/Humidifier products from the European marketplace has been ordered.
