Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Going Nuts Inc., a Calgary, Alberta establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Going Nuts branded Organic White Sesame Seeds from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Sesame Seed products are subject to this recall:

  • Going Nuts branded Organic White Sesame Seeds, sold in 275 gram bags with a batch/lot of L2134 and a UPC of 4 59861 25655 0

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Sesame Seed products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Alberta although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country and online. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Going Nuts Inc has recalled certain batch/lots of Going Nuts branded Organic White Sesame Seeds from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sesame Seed products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Going Nuts Organic White Sesame Seeds, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
