The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Raw Pacific Oysters are subject to this recall:
- Raw Pacific Oysters (Magallana gigas) harvested in Coffin Bay, South Australia; affected batch/lots: all production dates ranging from 4 September 2021 up to and including 16 November 2021. Please note, this warning includes includes fresh and frozen Oysters.
==> No barcodes, APNs, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
These Coffin Bay Raw Pacific Oysters were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Australian states/regions of Australian Capital Territory (“ACT”), New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the SA Health for specific product information on 08 8226 7100 or by e-mail at healthfood@sa.gov.au.

According to the ACCC, SA Health has issued an urgent recall and warning against the consumption of certain Raw Pacific Oysters (Magallana gigas) harvested in Coffin Bay due to suspected Vibrio parahaemolyticus contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Raw Pacific Oysters, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund or dispose of the seafood, taking care that children and household pets cannot ingest the contaminated food.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
