US FlagUS/Washington: Shamrock Foods Company, doing business as Gold Canyon Meat Company, a Phoenix, Arizona establishment, recalls an estimated 6,876 pounds of Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef products from the American marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Beef products are reported to have been produced on October 21, 2021, were marked with a batch/lot designation of 29421 and are subject to this recall:

  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground 6-ounce Gourmet Prime, packaged in 11.25-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 4512991 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground 2X1 Gourmet USDA Prime, packaged in 12-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked” with item number 4757111 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground Slider Angus 6X1, packaged in 12-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 3752811 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground 6-ounce 6 Wide Cedar River Natural USDA Choice, packaged in 12-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 3138361 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground 8-ounce Cedar River Natural USDA Choice, packaged in 12-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 3962551 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground Angus 7-ounce Cryo 2-6-pound Sleeves, packaged in 12.25-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 3942041 on the label.
  • Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Chuck Patties, Ground Angus 7Z, packaged in 12.25-pound boxes containing vacuum-packed, single-stacked with item number 3926911 on the label.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Gold Canyon Meat Co. Beef Chuck products may have been marketed, distributed and sold in all US states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, this recall was initiated after the firm received complaints from restaurant staff reporting they found hard, white plastic pieces in certain Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Patty products during preparation. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beef Chuck products identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Gold Canyon Meat Co. branded Beef Patty products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and/or GI tract laceration.
