Canada/Ottawa: Berchicci Importing Ltd., a Montréal, Quebec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of La Daris branded Burrata Cheese products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected generic Escherichia Coli (“E. Coli”) contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Burrata Cheese products are subject to this recall:

  • La Daria branded Burrata in Foglia – Fresh Cheese made with Spun Paste and Cream, sold in 200 gram tubs with a batch/lot of 42A1021, a use-by date of 12/11/2021 and a UPC of 8 032644 506527
  • La Daria branded Burrata Classica, sold in 100 gram tubs with a batch/lot of 42A1021, a use-by date of 15/11/2021 and a UPC of 8 032644 501386

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Burrata Cheese products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Quebec although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Berchicci Importing has recalled certain batch/lots of La Daris branded Burrata Cheese products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected generic Escherichia Coli (“E. Coli”) contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Burrata Cheese products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled La Daris branded Burrata Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Escherichia Coli (“E. Coli”).
