US FlagUS/Washington: ABUS Mobile Security Inc., a Chicago, Illinois establishment, recalls an estimated 790 ABUS MountZ Youth Bicycle Helmets from the American marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the US CPSC Federal Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmets and consequential risks of laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”), all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain ABUS ACM (MountZ) Youth Helmets marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

  • ABUS ACM (MountZ) Youth Bicycle Helmets, sold in medium size with an approximate 21 inch circumference and attached Chin Strap. The recalled Helmets were sold in Velvet Black and Polar White colors. The brand, “ABUS” can be found printed on the left side, front and back of each of the recalled Helmets. A model designation of “ACM (MountZ)” with a manufactured-date of “March 2020” or “October 2020”, can be found printed on a label on the inside of the Helmet.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Helmets do not comply with the US CPSC Federal Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmets, posing a risk of head injury.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled ABUS ACM (MountZ) Youth Helmets, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat falls, laceration, concussion, bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.
