US FlagUS/Washington: Innovative Solutions, Inc., a Kent, Washington establishment, recalls an estimated 97,887 pounds of Trader Joe’s branded Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and generic Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders from the American marketplace due to suspected bone fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken products are thought to have been produced on various dates ranging from August 16 to September 29, 2021 and are subject to this recall:

  • Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Chicken Burgers, packaged in one (1)-pound cardboard boxes, each containing four (4) pieces with batch/lot codes of 2281, 2291, 2311, 2351, 2361, 2371, 2441, 2511, 2521, 2531, 2561, 2591, 2601, 2671 or 2721
  • Generic Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders, packaged in nine (9)-pound bulk-pack boxes, each containing seventy-two (72) pieces with batch/lot codes of 2361 or 2631.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Chicken Burgers were reportedly marketed, distributed and sold in all US states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Innovative Solutions has recalled an estimated 97,887 pounds of Trader Joe’s branded Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and generic Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders from the American marketplace due to suspected bone fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken Burger products identified above.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-8276” printed near the USDA mark of inspection.

In general, if glass, plastic, bone or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

The recalled was initiated after Innovative Solutions received consumer complaints reporting findings of bone in the Chicken Burger product.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Trader Joe’s branded Chile Lime Chicken Burgers and generic Spinach Feta Chicken Sliders, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage an/or bowel obstruction.
