Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Kong Cat Lasers are subject to this recall:

  • Kong Cat Lasers, consisting of a small laser pointer toy for playing with cats. The recalled Laser device contains three (3) button batteries. The Laser’s packaging’s “try me” button as well as accompanying Remote Control each contains one (1) Button Battery.

==> No barcodes, APNs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The Button Battery compartment of the “try me” button in the packaging of the Kong Cat Lasers may not be adequately secured. As a result, the Batteries may be easily accessible.

These decorative lighting products are known to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states although it is always possible these Kong Cat Lasers had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, Australia Post has recalled all current batch/lots of Kong Cat Lasers from the Australian marketplace due to suspected component detachment that may pose a risk to the safety of children who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the recalled the Kong Cat Lasers identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kong Cat Lasers, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly contact Pet Circle to arrange for a credit or refund.

==> Small “button” batteries pose special ingestion risks to small children. Devices using them in the home or school should be closely examined and monitored for any breakage or other unintended access that could allow these batteries to be swallowed or otherwise ingested.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage.
