US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods (“UHF”), a Richmond, Virginia establishment, recalls all certain batch/lots of six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps from the American marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps are subject to this recall:

  • Chef Salads, sold in 12.6-ounce (357 gram) cello bags with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525049
  • Chicken and Bacon Cobb Salads, sold in 13.1-ounce (371 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525051
  • Chicken Caesar Salads, sold in 10.0-ounce (283 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525050
  • Chicken Caesar Wraps, sold in 12.5-ounce (354 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-23-21 and a UPC of 72251525064
  • Garden Side Salads, sold in 6.95-ounce (197 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525202
  • Mexican Side Salads, sold in 6.95-ounce (197 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525214
  • Southwestern Style Salads, sold in 12.5-ounce (354 gram) plastic clamshell containers with a sell-by date of 10-24-21 and a UPC of 72251525133

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the following retail outlets in the following US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

  • Food Lion Stores in Virginia and North Carolina
  • Harris Teeter in Williamsburg, Virginia
  • Kroger Mid Atlantic Stores in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio
  • Ukrop’s Market Hall, Richmond, Virginia

According to the FDA, Six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Ukrop’s Homestyle Salads & Chicken Wrap identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads and Wraps to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: while these six Green Salads and Chicken Caesar Wraps may be past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products during the months of October 2021 or November 2021, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
