Additional information:

Among the seventy-three (73) recalls the NHTSA announced in October comes news of the following:

Logo - Ford Motor CompanyFord Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 37,625 model year 2020-2021 Ford Ranger Super Cab Pickup Trucks equipped with Rear Seats containing Fixed Head Restraints marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seats, Child Seat – Child Seat may not attach properly in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 225

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V765000 reports the vehicle’s Fixed Head Restraints may interfere with proper installation of certain types of Child Seats. Additionally, the Child Seat may not attach properly to the Lower-Rear Anchors. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, “Child Restraint Anchorage System.”

According to the NHTSA, an improperly attached child seat can increase the risk of injury in a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
