US FlagUS/Washington: Walmart Inc., a Bentonville Arkansas establishment, recalls an estimated 3,900 bottles of Better Homes and Gardens branded Essential Oil Infused Aromatherapy Room Spray with Gemstones from the American marketplace due to suspected Burkholderia pseudomallei (also known as Pseudomonas pseudomallei) contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications including Melioidosis, a disease that can cause Encephalomyelitis, Septic Shock, Acute Pyelonephritis, Septic Arthritis and/or Osteomyelitis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports the following Aromatherapy products are subject to this recall:

  • Better Homes and Gardens (“BHG”) Gem Room Spray Lemon and Mandarin, sold with a barcode of 84140411420
  • Better Homes and Gardens (“BHG”) Gem Room Spray Lavender, sold with a barcode of 84140411422
  • Better Homes and Gardens (“BHG”) Gem Room Spray Peppermint, sold with a barcode of 84140411423
  • Better Homes and Gardens (“BHG”) Gem Room Spray Lime & Eucalyptus, sold with a barcode of 84140411424
  • Better Homes and Gardens (“BHG”) Gem Room Spray Sandalwood and Vanilla, sold with a barcode of 84140411425

==> No UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - WalmartThese Aromatherapy products are reported to have been marketed, distributed and sold in 55 US Walmart stores nationwide and online at http://www.walmart.com from February 2021 through October 2021 although it is always possible these drug products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CPSC, Walmart Inc. has recalled an estimated 3,900 bottles of Better Homes and Gardens Essential Oil Infused Aromatherapy Room Spray with Gemstones from the American marketplace due to suspected Burkholderia pseudomallei contamination.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) suggests the following safety protocol for returning this product:

  1. Stop using this product immediately. Do NOT open the bottle. Do NOT attempt to throw away or dispose of the bottle.
  2. Double bag the bottle in clean, clear zip-top resealable bags and place in a small cardboard box. Return the bagged and boxed product to a Walmart store.
  3. Wash sheets or linens that the product may have been sprayed on using normal laundry detergent and dry completely in a hot dryer, bleach can be used if desired.
  4. Wipe down counters and surfaces that might have been exposed to the spray with an undiluted disinfectant cleaner.
  5. Minimize handling of the product and wash hands thoroughly after handling the bottle or linens. Always wash your hands thoroughly after removing your gloves.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Aromatherapy products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the drug to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Burkholderia pseudomallei or illnesses such as Melioidosis.
