Canada/Ottawa: Ombrelle Canada, a Toronto, Ontario establishment and a subsidiary of Ombrella Marketing Company of Middletown, Delaware, a division of L’Oréal of Paris, France, recalls all current batch/lots of Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen, SPF 30 and SPF 60, from the Canadian marketplace due to elevated levels of Benzene and consequential risks of Cancers of the Blood and Blood-Forming Tissues, including the Bone Marrow and the Lymphatic System including Leukemia, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen products are subject to this recall:

  • Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen SPF 30, sold with a Drug Identification Number (“DIN”) of 02415313 with the following batch/lot and expiration dates:
    • Batch/lot: JFT30W with an expiration date of 03-2023
    • Batch/lot: JFS80W with an expiration date of 08-2022
  • Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen SPF 60, sold with a Drug Identification Number (“DIN”) of 02415402 with the following batch/lot and expiration dates:
    • Batch/lot: JFT30W with an expiration date of 08-2023
    • Batch/lot: JFS80W with an expiration date of 08-2022
    • Batch/lot: JFS81W with an expiration date of 08-2022

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen products were marketed, sold and delivered as a preventative for sunburn, premature skin aging and various types of skin Cancer and are thought to be have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces although it is always possible these cosmetics had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to Health Canada, Ombrelle Canada has recalled all current batch/lots of Ombrelle Garnier Complete Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen SPF30 and SPF 60 from the Canadian marketplace due to elevated levels of Benzene.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dry Mist Spray Sunscreen products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food, drug or cosmetics poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any drug, return it to your retailer for refund, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect product.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Benzene contamination.
