US NHTSA Recalls: Highland Ridge Recreational Vehicles

Among the ninety-three (93) recalls the NHTSA announced in September came news of the following:

Logo - Highland Ridge Recreational VehiclesHighland Ridge Recreational Vehicles, LLC (“Highland”), a Shipshewana, Indiana establishment and subsidiary of Thor Industries, has recalled an estimated 1,157 model year 2021 Highland Ridge Mesa Ridge Limited, Highland Ridge Mesa Ridge Lite, Highland Ridge Open Range Light, Highland Ridge Open Range Ultra Lite, Highland Ridge Silverstar Limited, Highland Ridge Silverstar Lite, 2021-2022 Highland Ridge Olympia, and Highland Ridge Open Range Recreational Vehicles (“RVs”) equipped with Winntec model 6020 Two-Stage Propane Regulators marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Propane Regulator may fail and cause fire

NHTSA Safety Notification 21V686000 reports the vehicle’s Propane Regulator may fail, causing an increase in propane gas pressure.

According to the NHTSA, increased propane gas pressure can enlarge the flames in Gas Appliances, increasing the risk of a fire, explosion, burns and/or smoke inhalation with consequential life-changing or life-ending results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat burns, scalds, blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

Please note that under 49 United States Code § 30112(a), it is illegal for anyone, including a manufacturer, distributor, dealer or retailer to sell an item of equipment or vehicle that fails to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
