US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Maple Island Inc., a Wanamingo, Minnesota, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Walmart Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal from the American marketplace due to suspected elevated levels of Inorganic Arsenic contamination and consequential risks of vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, limb numbness and tingling, muscle cramping, Cancer and death, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Rice Baby Cereal products are subject to this recall:

  • Walmart Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal, sold in 8-ounce pouches lots with the following batch/lots, best-before dates and a UPC of 00681131082907 as follows:
    • Batch/lot of 21083 with a best-if-used-by date code of JUN 24 2022
    • Batch/lot of 21084 with a best-if-used-by date code of JUN 25 2022
    • Batch/lot of 21242 with a best-if-used-by date code of NOV 30 2022

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - WalmartThese Rice Baby Cereal products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in Walmart’s stores and online in all US states although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Maple Island has recalled certain batch/lots of Walmart Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal from the American marketplace due to suspected elevated levels of Inorganic Arsenic contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Rice Baby Cereal products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Walmart Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Baby Cereal to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Inorganic Arsenic contamination.
