Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Australia Post, a Melbourne, Victoria establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Nice & Nifty LED String Lights from the Australian marketplace due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, burns, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious safety hazards requiring immediate medical attention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Nice & Nifty LED String Lights are subject to this recall:

  • Nice & Nifty LED String Lights, sold in a cardboard box with one (1) 16 LED light string, a ‘try me’ button that contains one (1) button battery and a product code 59117
  • Nice & Nifty Copper String Lights, sold in a cardboard box with one (1) 80 LED light string, a ‘try me’ button that contains one (1) button battery and a product code of 58720

==> No barcodes, APNs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These decorative lighting products are known to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states although it is always possible these String Lights had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Australia Post has recalled all current batch/lots of Nice & Nifty LED String Lights from the Australian marketplace due to suspected component detachment that may pose a risk to the safety of children who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the recalled the LED String Lights identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Nice & Nifty LED String Lights please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Small “button” batteries pose special ingestion risks to small children. Devices using them in the home or school should be closely examined and monitored for any breakage or other unintended access that could allow these batteries to be swallowed or otherwise ingested.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage.
