US FlagUS/Washington: Espi’s Sausage and Tocino Co., a Seattle, Washington establishment, recalls an estimated 2,048 pounds of Argentina Mighty Meaty Chicken and Pork Hotdogs – Jumbo size from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken and Pork Hot Dog products are thought to have been produced on May 19, 2021 and are subject to this recall:

  • Argentina Mighty Meaty Chicken and Pork Hotdogs – Jumbo size, sold in 12-ounce vacuum packed plastic packages with a sell-by date code of 051922

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Hot Dog products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold to shipped to a distributor in California and further shipped to US retail locations, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Espi’s Sausage and Tocino Co., has recalled an estimated 2,048 pounds of Argentina Mighty Meaty Chicken and Pork Hotdogs – Jumbo size from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken and Pork Hotdogs identified above.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-17524″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. This recall was initiated after an assessment performed by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) of the establishment’s sampling records indicated the firm received confirmation from its third-party lab that a product contact surface had tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Argentina Mighty Meaty Chicken and Pork Hotdogs, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
