UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose & Partners, a London, England establishment and a subsidiary of the John Lewis Partnership of Bracknell, Berkshire recalls certain batch/lots of Waitrose & Partners Plantlife Pulled Oyster Mushroom Burgers from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Plant Burgers are subject to recall:

  • Waitrose & Partners branded Plantlife Pulled Oyster Mushroom Burgers, packaged in 200 gram white plastic trays with a cardboard wrap; affected batch/lot codes: all current dates up to and including the date of this recall

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - Waitrose & PartnersAccording to the FSA, Waitrose & Partners has recalled certain batch/lots of Waitrose & Partners Plantlife Pulled Oyster Mushroom Burgers from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Plant Burgers identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Waitrose Plantlife Pulled Oyster Mushroom Burgers, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Burgers to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
