Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Ampersand Projects, a Sydney, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pink Gin Soda, Vodka Soda and Vodka Soda Black Alcoholic Beverages from the Australian marketplace due to suspected packaging defects and consequential risks of sudden and unexpected lid popping, eye damage, bone fracture, laceration and/or property damage, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Gin and Vodka Soda Beverages are subject to this recall:

  • Ampersand Projects branded Pink Gin Soda, sold in 355 mL aluminium bottle with an APN/barcode of 9354479000155 or 9354479000919 and the following batch/lots/date combinations:
    • Batch/lot of LC14 with a best-before date of 05.08.23
    • Batch/lot of LC13 with best-before dates ranging from 23.08.23 to 25.08.23
    • Batch/lot of LC18 with best-before dates ranging from 01.09.23 to 03.09.23
  • Ampersand Projects branded Vodka Soda, sold in 355 mL aluminium bottle with an APN/barcode of 9354479000933 and the following batch/lots and date ranges:
    • Batch/lot of LC11 with best-before dates ranging from 14.08.23 to 16.08.23
  • Ampersand Projects branded Vodka Soda Black, sold in 355 mL aluminium bottle with an APN/barcode of 9354479000957 and the following batch/lots:
    • Batch/lot of LC12 with best-before dates ranging from 10.08.23 to 13.08.23

==> No manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Gin and Vodka Soda Beverages were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in BWS and Dan Murphy’s nationally as well as independent retailers, liquor stores and licensed premises in NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC, TAS and WA although it is always possible these alcohol products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Ampersand Projects has recalled certain batch/lots of Pink Gin Soda, Vodka Soda and Vodka Soda Black Alcoholic Beverages from the Australian marketplace due to suspected packaging defects with consequential risks of sudden and unexpected lid popping, eye damage, bone fracture, laceration and/or property damage. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Gin or Vodka Soda Alcoholic Beverages identified above.

In general, if glass, plastic or metal fragments are suddenly and/or unexpectedly expelled at high speed and/or under pressure, they could cut the mouth, face or eye, possibly requiring surgical intervention for their mitigation.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Pink Gin Soda, Vodka Soda and Vodka Soda Black Alcoholic Beverages, please do not use them or attempt to open the bottles. Instead, dispose of it safely (i.e., away from the body using safety glasses and gloves). Please contact Ampersand Projects for safe disposal instructions and to arrange reimbursement.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction.
