Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Bad Shepherd Brewing Co Pty Ltd., a Cheltenham, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Bad Shepherd Brewing branded Peanut Butter and Jam Barrel-Aged Porter Beer products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected secondary fermentation and consequential exploding cans caused by increased Carbon Dioxide production with risks of inadvertent alcohol intoxication, eye damage and/or laceration, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Alcoholic Beer products are subject to this recall:

  • Bad Shepherd Brewing branded Peanut Butter and Jam Barrel-Aged Porter Beer, sold in four (4) by 355 mL individual can-packs and as a 24-can cases, a batch number of 421, a best-before 23/07/2022 a packaged date 23/07/21 with an individual can barcode/APN of 9350409001421, a four (4) pack barcode/APN of 9350409001438 and a 23-can case barcode/APN of 9350409001459

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Beer’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the potential for the cans of Bad Shepherd Brewing branded Peanut Butter and Jam Barrel-Aged Porter Beer products to unexpectedly pop open or rupture due to ongoing secondary fermentation. Consequently, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beer products identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Peanut Butter and Jam Barrel-Aged Porter Beer products, please do not open nor consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the Beer products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Use safety glasses and carefully wrap the recalled Beer products in a sturdy cardboard box to prevent injury.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat lacerations and/or eye injury.
